God Is Not Our Servant

Praying is of no use without doing. "Fervent Prayer" is no substitute for fervent action (though it must accompany it). There is no point appealing to God if we are not prepared to put forth total effort ourselves. God is not there as a servant to wait on us, or get us through life easily. He is there to guide and strengthen and encourage and help us in the greatest endeavor and accomplishment possible to man -- to transform ourselves from death to life, from flesh to Spirit, from ugliness to beauty. It is a total, tremendous, full-time enterprise. In our brief moment of fleshly existence we are called to eternity: called to eternity by the love of God.
