Most people assume that their mind is a built-in, ready-made machine, and that it has all the answers to life, and that whatever they THINK must be correct because they think it with their mind that they have so much faith in. This is nonsense. All you have to begin with is a blank computer with a tremendous bias toward erroneous operation, requiring much sound input to make it useful, and constant checking from without to make it all reliable. The normal adult mind is a faulty computer filled with rubbish and error. But the case isn't hopeless. God knows our limits, prescribes His remedy, and asks nothing except our poor little faulty best. But it must be our very best -- or woe betide us!
