REVISED CHRONOLOGY CHART -- J.B. Scaramastro

The below chronology is true if we start the 430 years of Ex. 12:40, 41; Gal. 3:17 when Abram leaves Ur of the Chaldees at the age of 70. Then the 400 years of Gen. 15:13 is computed from Isaac's birth.

However, if we start the 430 years in Abram's 75th year, then when the covenant is confirmed at 437 we still have 420 years left until the Exodus which now takes place in 857. Thus the last three dates below would be 777, 817, 857 respectively. The 400 years would then appear to be dated from the year 457 or 5 years after the birth of Isaac. This fact would seem to establish the date of Gen. 21:8-19 when Ishmael mocked Issac ("they shall afflict them four hundred years" Gen. 15:13) as 457 and that would then be the starting point of the 400 years.

427 ... Abram leaves Haran, aged 75.

437 ... The promise concerning Christ confirmed on the 14th day of Abib at even; Abram 85. The dating of Gen. 15 is based on Gen. 16:1 where the opening conjunction "And" of 16:1 seems to connect it with Gen. 15

438 ... Ishmael born.

451 ... Circumcision instituted ; Abraham circumcises all his males.

52 ... Isaac born; Abraham 100 years. Sojourns in the Philistines' land.

427 ... Terah dies aged 205 ; Abraham 75 leaves Haran after a residence there of 5 years.

489 ... Sarah dies at Hebron, aged 127.

492 ... Isaac marries Rebecca; Abram 140.

512 ... Esau and Jacob born Isaac 60.

527 ... Abram dies, aged 175 Jacob 15 years.

552 ... Esau marries, aged 40.

502 ... SHEM, or Melchizedec, disappears. Abraham, 150; Isaac 50.

569 ... Jacob leaves Isaac; sees the Vision of the Ladder: arrives at Laban's aged 57.

603 ... Joseph born.

609 ... Jacob leaves Laban, having served him 40 years, aged 97. Isaac 157.

620 ... Joseph sold into Egypt, aged 17. Jacob 108 years.

632 ... Isaac dies, aged 180. Jacob 120.

642 ... Second year of the great famine. Jacob 130: removes into Egypt Joseph 39 years.

659 ... Jacob dies, aged 147. Joseph, aged 56.

713 ... Joseph dies, aged 110 years. From confirmation of covenant 276 years.

772 ... Moses born. Aaron 3 years old.

812 ... Moses flies from Egypt.

852 ... The Israelites return from Egypt 415 years from the confirmation of the covenant. Moses 80 years.
