We Will Walk In His Paths

Men are accounted righteous when they have faith in God's promises and obey His commands; then they attain to peace. When God's judgments are in the world the nations will learn righteousness, and there will then be peace. The angels' words will have been translated into fact: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men." "And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance for ever" (Isaiah 32:17).

Christ will be the Prince of Peace because he is "The Righteous One." To his praise, says Isaiah, songs will yet be raised from the uttermost parts of the earth (24:16). He loved righteousness and hated iniquity, and therefore God has anointed him with the oil of gladness. When all men say, We will walk in His paths, it will follow that "neither shall they learn war any more" (Isa. 2:4).
