Hospitality Without Grudging

The brotherhood today is faithful to the New Testament injunction to exercise hospitality without grudging. Visiting speaking brethren are entertained in a generous and thoughtful manner, frequently from Saturday evening until Monday morning when coming a long distance. There are still a few ecclesias where hospitality is little practised, and households where either husband or wife will not allow normal routine to be disturbed in order to manifest a simple act of brotherly love. The care of visiting speaking brethren is only one branch of Christian hospitality. Those in need of encouragement, instruction or health-giving surroundings, are to be remembered by overseeing elders and their wives desirous of honouring the apostolic word. If reverent love for God at the meeting room is accompanied by practical love for others, a lightstand tended by such elders is likely to display a pure and warm light.
