April 1st -- Numbers 15 A FASHON FOREVER |

"BID them that they make fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue ... that ye may look upon it and remember all the commandments of the Lord, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring: that ye may remember and do them, and be holy to the Lord your God" (Numbers 15:38). What nation under heaven can show a feature of civilisation like this? Talk of the fashions for the month. Here is a fashion for ever! whose sole object was to keep before the mind the one thing most odious of all others to the taste of the followers of Parisian models. It shows more eloquently than anything else the place which God should have in human life, according to God's view of the matter, and His view alone is the one which will prevail with the children of wisdom. All other views are bound to become as extinct as the vegetation of the carboniferous era. ROBERT ROBERTS, The Law of Moses, page 81
