Russian Patriarch Wants Lenin Moved
Introduction: In the continuing struggle to undo all that was done by the 1917 Revolution, in which the communists came to power, we find the continuing effort to remove all vestiges of that revolution and to re-instate the tsarist regime back in power, re-establishing the country the way things were before the revolution. In the article below, the leaders of Russia are trying to remove another element, namely the leader of the communist revolution from the scene. He is undoubtedly the leader and key element of that time period. Thus, his burial, which is being attempted in a most dignified manner, is of the ultimate importance to continue the drive to re-establish the line of the tsar in power. Because with his burial as a normal man, he will no longer be the star attraction and reminder of the revolution in Red Square. Thus, an important step will be taken in the destruction of the communist regime and the country known as the USSR will be taken. This will be followed by the bursting forth of a tsarist Russia, which the Bible establishes quite clearly as the basis of the future developments in the earth surrounding the return of the Lord. Brother Thomas says with emphasis on an autocratic Russia, and not a communistic USSR, the following: From the Author's Preface, Elpis Israel:

Patriarch Wants Lenin Moved By Marcus Warren in Moscow May 25, 1999 RUSSIA'S spiritual leader, Patriarch Alexiy II, yesterday called for Lenin and other Communist leaders to be removed from their mausoleum on Red Square and buried He said: "The country's main square should not be a cemetery. I hope there will come a time when a pantheon or burial place will be built to transfer these remains to." He spoke during a Church procession across the square to celebrate the feast day of St Cyril and St Methodius. He is not the first to call for Lenin's reburial but, as head of the world's largest Orthodox Church, he is a figure few Russian politicians would dare to argue with in public. Cautious as ever, the Patriarch implied that his main objection to the siting of the leaders' tombs was the vogue for holding concerts on Red Square, not the evil of men such as Lenin or Stalin. He said: "It is amoral to have rock shows and concerts on Red Square next to a cemetery and people's graveyards." The removal of the remains should not create new divisions in society, he insisted, making clear that he did not expect the Soviet leaders and sundry heroes of the 1917 revolution to be given a proper burial in the near future. President Yeltsin has often expressed his support for reburying Lenin. But fear of antagonising the opposition has always deterred the Kremlin from removing the corpse from the centre of Moscow. Twice, after the failed hardline coups of 1991 and 1993, the mausoleum looked in danger of losing its star attraction only for the powers-that-be to back down from confrontation at the last moment. Even the Patriarch has to take into account the views of the powerful Communists, despite the decades of persecution the Church suffered at their hands. Lenin and Stalin ordered tens of thousands of priests to their deaths and their successors continued to oppress believers, destroying churches and jailing clergy who tried to proselytise. Russia's Communists still venerate the founder of the Soviet state, laying wreaths at the mausoleum every year on his birthday. Many anti-Communists believe he should be left on Red Square as well, if only as a monument to the country's grim past. Lenin's body was embalmed and put on display soon after his death in 1924, despite protests from his widow. Apart from exile to the provinces during the war, it has remained there since. After his death Stalin kept him company until himself being removed in 1961. Most of Lenin's family are buried in a cemetery in St Petersburg, which many would like to see become his final resting place as well. Other Soviet leaders are buried behind the granite mausoleum on Red Square, with the ashes of famous Communists, including a Briton, Arthur MacManus, kept in casks in the nearby Kremlin wall. |
